Initial Placement of Students in LLI
Starting an LLI group can feel daunting. All of the students you are pulling may not be on the same reading level. Collaborate with your grade level to find the best fit for each of your students. The attached document (purple button below) will help you see what levels the Green, Blue, and Red Kits cover. Remember that you start the LLI group at the level within the kit that your students are on, which may not be Lesson 1.

Getting Started with the Green & Blue Kits
Both kits require some prep before you begin. Each student will need: My Writing Book (these are the red, yellow and purple books above the LLI boxes in the literacy library), My Poetry Book, My ABC Book (green kit), My Vowel Book, an Alphabet Linking Chart, My Words Chart (blue kit) and a Consonant Cluster Linking chart (optional). Other than My Writing Book, each item can be printed from the Edline LLI Blue Kit folder. I also have a folder of hard copies with the teacher check-out files in the literacy library.
Getting Started with the Red Kit
Fewer items are needed for the Red kit lessons. Each student will need a Literacy Notebook. These are the red and white books above the red kit boxes in the literacy library. One side of the book is used for Word Study, and the other is Writing About Reading. You will need magnetic letters for your red kit (ask either CRS if you need some). We can also give you the magnetic strips used for the Word Study portion of the lesson. NOTE: Test prep lessons have test prep books. Test prep books are non-consumable. Please make copies for your students.
Game Directions
Several LLI lessons include games. I have included directions for each below.
